Kaye Schloemer, Minister of Congregational Care

Kaye’s family was not looking for a new church home when they attended the Services of New Beginning at St. Matthew’s in the fall of 1989. They thought they were coming just to hear their friend David McIntosh preach, but after the four nights of services, they sensed it – an unmistakable calling to this sweet place. They joined St. Matthew’s in January 1990, and she joined the staff – serving and offering Christ together with the St. Matthew’s family – in 1991. Kaye says that no two days are ever the same in her vocation, but one thing is for sure: God does show up – and it is always a beautiful sight to experience God’s many forms and faces!

 

Kaye’s “church credentials” include certifications in Evangelism and Christian Education through the United Methodist Church (United Seminary), and also a certification in Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Formation in the Congregation through the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

 

Kaye has been married since 1969 to her high school sweetheart Brack. They are the parents of two terrific grown children, and grandparents to one exceptionally phenomenal (ahem!) 3-year-old granddaughter and two adorable grand-dogs. Time with family and friends is especially dear to her. She also delights in porch time, cooking, taking long walks, traveling and reading – anything by Wendy Miller, Henri Nouwen, Barbara Brown Taylor, Sue Monk Kidd, Anne Lamott, Parker Palmer or Eugene Peterson.
