Kim Parker, Associate Pastor - Student Ministries

Kim Parker, a native of Virginia, has been surrounded by high school and junior high school students throughout her life. With both parents working in education, her dad as football coach and her mom as teacher and artist, the family home was always a haven for students. Her parents instilled in her a love for youth that has become an integral part of her life.  

As a teenager, Kim was active in many sports and extracurricular activities. During college, she was a leader in the Wesley Foundation and in intramural athletics, and she also served as Youth Director at Minor Memorial United Methodist Church and Bruce United Methodist Church. During this time, she discovered a talent and love for leading music.  

Upon graduation from The University of Mississippi, she attended Asbury Theological Seminary, where she served as head of the intramural program, the Ichthus teaching chairperson and a member of the student body council. She continued to be active in church leadership as well, serving on the youth ministry team at Wilmore United Methodist Church.  

Throughout her career, Kim has traveled across the country to speak and lead worship. She has been involved in program and curriculum design and in writing for youth ministries at local and conference levels. She has also continued to seek and lead in various missions opportunities.

Upon graduation from Asbury, Kim moved to Mississippi, where she has served in several churches as Associate Pastor and Youth Minister, including First United Methodist Church in Corinth, First United Methodist Church in Starkville and Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson. She currently serves as an Associate Pastor in charge of student ministries at St. Matthew's. She is an Ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church. A resident of Jackson, Kim shares her home with her favorite pets, two dogs named Maggie and Micki. Her hobbies include music, sports and outdoor activities, and she loves XM radio, TiVo, Facebook and Twitter.
