Advent

Advent is the four weeks leading to Christmas where we prepare ourselves for the birth of Christ. Each week we examine a different theme, a “gift” if you will that Jesus’ birth brings us - hope, peace, joy, love. This year at St. Matthew’s we are going to be asking “What If?” What if we really had hope? Or peace? Joy? Love? What would our lives look like? Our families? Our churches? Our world?

Join us weekly for "What If?"  We also have a great many places for you and your family to plug in during this season.  Here are just a few:

December 1 - St. Nick Sunday - On this first Sunday of Advent, we place the food that was purchased for Birthday Gift for Christ on the altar.  This food will go to every family that is adopted by our church.

December 4 - 6:00 p.m. - Children's Christmas Musical.  Come join us at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary as our children's choirs share with us the wonder of Christmas!

December 11 - 6:00 p.m. - Wrap Night.  Join us for this fun family time as we fellowship, spend time together as a church family and wrap our gifts for our Birthday Gift for Christ families!

December 14 - Day of Service - Christ Cupboard Food Delivery - Congregational Care each Christmas delivers food to shut-ins, friends, and just those that may need a little cheer.  Contact Kaye Schloemer for more information or to sign up!

Birthday Gift for Christ Delivery - We will be out delivering all morning to our Birthday Gift for Christ families their gifts, food, and clothing!

Parent's Night Out - 6:00 p.m - 10:00 p.m. - Calling all parents!  We have a special Parent's Night Out this month.  Our Students will be volunteering and all proceeds will go towards Student Mission Trips and other upcoming events.

December 15 - 8:30 a.m and 11:00 a.m. Join us in the Sanctuary for our Christmas Musical presented by our Choir and Orchestra.  This wonderful gift of worship gets our hearts ready to celebrate the birth of Christ.

December 18 - 6:00 p.m Blue Christmas.  Christmas is not always a happy time for all of us.  Many of us find ourselves blue.  Maybe it's the first season without a loved one.  Perhaps it's been a rough year and we just don't "feel" it. For whatever reason, if you are blue this year, this service is for you.

December 22 - This Sunday we will have our normal Sunday Morning Schedule - Traditional Worship at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m., INTERSECTION at 11:00 p.m. and Sunday School at 9:45 a.m.

December 24 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Join us for our special Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service!  A wonderful time for us to come together as a family and celebrate the birth of our Lord!

December 29 - On this last Sunday of the year, we will have services at 10:00 a.m.  Both Traditional and INTERSECTION be held at 10:00 a.m. and there will be no Sunday School
