Disaster Response / Emergency Needs

Disaster Response / Emergency NeedsSt Matthews United Methodist ChurchIn 2005 when Hurricane Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast, teams from St. Matthew’s were among the first to go down after the initial emergency period was over. These teams provided assistance in recovery and relief, by helping to clean up destroyed or damaged churches and homes. Those recovery teams have continued. The church provided certification training for 30 people as an Early Response Team, and has a fully equipped disaster response trailer, loaded and ready to respond, not only to continuing Katrina needs, but to other disasters in the state and metro area.
