Congregational Care Ministries

Offering Christ Together...

Card Care: Meets Thursdays, 9:30 a.m., in Church Library; we pray for known joys and concerns before writing cards to communicate the love of Christ.
Coordinator: Jean Eason

Christ’s Cupboard: Ministry of meals and hospitality with friends in special circumstances; donations of casseroles, vegetables, meats, breads and desserts offer comfort and communicate God’s love.

Christ Cupboard Cook Days: Meals prepared in Church Kitchen at Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and delivered to friends with special circumstances.
Coordinator: Tami Rigby

Church-wide Prayer Ministry: Provides opportunities for the congregation to come together in prayer; offers classes, resources, vigils throughout the year.

Communion Ministry: The Sacrament is offered on first Thursday of month to friends hospitalized, homebound, living in area retirement homes; servers meet in Library at 1:30 pm; recipients served 1:45-4:30 p.m.

Covenant Care: Ministry of the laity with the laity in all of life’s journey; ministers care for up to five families each; Calling Forth held yearly for those sensing the Spirit’s call to relational ministry; training is required.

Finger Puppets for Blair Batson: Crochet finger puppets for Children’s Diabetes Clinic; puppets protect little sore “recently poked” fingers.

The Flower Ministry: Bouquets fashioned from Sunday’s donated flowers are delivered to friends in homes, hospitals and retirement facilities; Mondays, 1p.m., office suite.

Fire Station Friends: Delivery of WNL meals to friends in nearby station.

Home Place Prayer Meeting: Tuesday p.m. worship, led by Rev. Rayford Woodrick, rotating with other churches.

Hospital Visitation Ministry: Compassionate laity offer a supportive, cheerful presence to hospitalized members; training required for this shared ministry with staff clergy.

Sing and Celebrate! Music, devotional time and fellowship with friends in area retirement homes; musical ability is not a pre-requisite. Some can sing, others can play the piano, many can hug; all are vital to this ministry of love.

Traumatic Brain Injury Support: Supportive community for families caring for loved ones with traumatic brain injury; forum for sharing of ideas and information.

WAGS Pet Therapy (Witnessing Animals God’s Saints): Docile dogs, de-clawed cats have a special way of communicating God’s love to friends in retirement homes; animals are evaluated to determine temperment.

Wednesday Intercessory Prayer Group: Dedicated persons pray for each joy and concern listed on church prayer list; meets at 4 p.m. in the Church Parlor prior to the WNL meal.

Bereavement Ministry: Coordination of care and meals for loved ones following services in our Sanctuary. Classes, small groups play vital role in this nurturing care.

Joys and Concerns: Prayer lists distributed to congregation twice weekly to encourage supportive community.

Prayer List to Homebound Members: Mailing on Monday mornings to friends no longer able to come to church.
Coordinators: Nancy Palmer and Mary Gressett

Triple Blessings: Assistance in feeding St. Matthew’s newest triplets; a.m. time slots available.
