Spring Break Mission Trip to Chicago - Jr & Sr High - March 10 - 17
Through out the year, students participate in many mission opportunities. In the past three years, youth have traveled to Costa Rica to participate in Rice and Bean Ministries and to Chicago to be a part of the DOOR. We actively serve the greater Jackson area in MadCAAP, Mission Week and Birthday Gift for Christ, along with monthly mission opportunities that are selected by the youth leadership team.
Spiritual Life RetreatsWe participate in the conference retreats (Camp Wesley Pines, Camp Lake Stephens, campouts, rallies, etc.). We also plan our own retreats throughout the school year.
Every winter, we participate in a retreat that we call Disciple Now. During this Discipleship weekend, we stay together in different church members’ homes as we experience a wonderful few days packed with concerts, games and group discovery times.
The youth will leave after school on Friday (5 p.m.) headed to Camp Wesley Pines. We will return by noon on Sunday. It will be a great time of worship, games, high ropes, rappelling wall and fellowship! You don’t want to miss it!
This is an intense week of discipleship for Sr. Highs only. We will live together for an entire week during which we are intentional in our disciplines of life. We rise at 5 a.m. and begin with quiet time alone with God. At 5:30 a.m., we begin our physical training time with aerobic exercise. We cut out all junk food, caffeine and other vices that young people have become accustomed to. Personal freedoms such as cars, telephones and televisions are also relinquished for the week. The diet is very strict, and study hall is required each day immediately after school. Each Marine has to take part in the requirements of the community; chores of cleaning and cooking are part of the responsibilities. Each night, a community worship time is conducted, and a quiet time is observed by all prior to bedtime at 9 p.m. There will be more information in a separate mailing for those who are interested!
