Music Ministries

Psalm 96: 1-2 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name.” The music ministry of St. Matthew’s does just that. Praise the Lord for the variety of gifts found within our church’s music program. We are a blessed congregation!

I would like to extend a personal invitation to any person who loves to “make a joyful noise” to join one of our choirs. Many opportunities are available for persons of all ages to join a choral group within the church. The Children’s Choirs meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The divisions are preschool, 1st-3rd grades and 4th–6th grades.  The Sanctuary Choir is our lead worship team for the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. The adults rehearse on Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. in the Choir Room.

We also have the ministry of Handbells. The Adult Handbells meet on Sundays at 6 p.m. Reading music notation is a prerequisite.

I have been so blessed through church music through the years. As a child, I was in a very small church that did not have a children’s choir. Later as a youth, I moved to a larger church and joined the Youth Choir. What great memories abound from UMYF, Choir Trips, special performances, retreats, etc. Then as an adult, I had the opportunity to be in an active adult choir. As a result of these experiences, I wanted to use my gifts to honor God and give back some of the blessings I received. Through musicals for children, youth and adults, as well as weekly worship services, I have felt the power of the Holy Spirit rest upon His people. So now, I offer these blessings for you, also. Don’t miss the joy and blessing which music offers as you … “sing to the Lord.”
