St. Matthew’s Family:
As many of you are aware, there was a major tornado that ripped through the Delta and North Mississippi on the evening of March 24th. Many communities were devastated including Rolling Fork, Amory, and Silver City. In response to the images we have seen on the news and the reports from friends in the impacted areas, people from our congregation are asking “How can we help”. Your staff have been communicating with the Mississippi Annual Conference, pastors, and other connections in the damaged areas to determine the best way to assist. Listed below are the ways we can help:
Please pray for the impacted communities as they recover.
Do not attempt to go help clean up the debris areas until clearance is given from the proper authorities.
You can make a monetary donation that will directly help with the recovery efforts in the following two ways:
Donations can be made through UMCOR at the following online link: Global Ministries - UMCOR US Disaster Response and Recovery (umcmission.org)
By mailing a check to:
MS UMC Conference
320 Briarwood Drive
Jackson, MS 39206
Mark it “Mississippi Tornado Relief”
We are partnering with local individuals that will be delivering needed items to Rolling Fork later this week. There will be a Penske truck available to load your donations located at: 207 Waterford Square, Madison, MS 39110. They are requesting to have your items dropped off by 5 pm tomorrow (Tuesday, March 28th). Needed items are: water, pre-packaged ready to eat foods, diapers, wipes, feminine products, and other personal hygiene products.
Thank you for your prayers and support for those in need. If you have any questions, feel free to call the church office at 601-856-9581 or email Brian Johnston, Associate Pastor at brian@stm-umc.org
